How to take a baby’s passport photo at home
- Lay out a white sheet. On the floor or a bed — or cover a car seat with it.
- Shoot from above. Lay your baby on the sheet; take the photo from directly above with even light.
- Two adults. One keeps the baby calm, the other takes the photo with the rear camera.
- No hands in the frame. Keep hands, toys and dummies out, then check and download.

FAQ
Questions
Does my baby need eyes open?
Yes. canada.ca publishes no eyes-open exception for babies, so the usual rule applies.
Can I hold my baby for the photo?
Your hands must not be visible. Lay your baby on a plain white sheet and shoot from above, or ask a second adult to take the photo. The tool asks you to confirm that no hands are in the photo.
What background do I need?
Plain white or light-coloured. No hands visible — yours or your child's. No shadows around ears, background, face or shoulders.
What size is the photo?
50 × 70 mm — the same as for adults. See the Canada passport photo page for the head-size rule.

Does my photo get uploaded?
No. Photos are processed in your browser and never leave your device. We don't store them and we can't see them. We never store or use your photo after you close the tab.
Will my baby’s photo be accepted?
The tool checks the photo against the official rules, but the final decision is always up to the issuing authority. No service can promise acceptance.
Can I make photos for my whole family?
Yes — up to 6 people, each with their own document. The Family kit is 2.99, one-time · no subscription: exact digital files and print sheets for everyone, plus one family sheet.
